Jesse Davis Quartet
Round About Five – Sunday 12 january 2025
It was a pleasure to welcome the Jesse Davis Quartet! Leading the ensemble was the legendary Jesse Davis on alto saxophone—a true master of the craft, known for his soulful sound and deep New Orleans roots. A former student of Ellis Marsalis, Jesse has shared the stage with jazz greats like Jack McDuff, Kenny Barron, Roy Hargrove, and Nicholas Payton, and even played a role in Robert Altman’s film Kansas City.
Holding down the groove on bass was Martin Zenker, an internationally renowned bassist with a remarkable career spanning collaborations with Jimmy Cobb and Barbara Morrison. A dedicated jazz educator, Martin now leads the jazz department at the Goethe Music School in Mongolia.
A special highlight of the evening was Gaëtan Casteels joining the band for a track, adding an extra touch.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this extraordinary performance!
