Celebrated as the national diva of Madagascar, Monika Njava recorded two critically acclaimed albums for EMI with the group Njava. She has also recorded with Deep Forest and tours with the platinum-selling band.
From the island of Mauritius, Linley Marthe is among the world’s foremost jazz bassists. He has played with The Zawinul Syndicate, Cheb Mami, Dave Liebman, Nguyen Le, Trilok Gurtu, Jean Luc Ponty, Paco Séry and Randy Brecker. Joe Zawinul said: “Linley is just a phenomenon. I don’t know if there is anybody who can touch him in terms of overall bass playing.”
Joining them are two of Madagascar’s top jazz musicians. Guitarist Joël Rabesolo totally seduced the audience when he performed at l’Archiduc last year. Keeping it all together, drummer Miora Rabarisoa effortlessly blends Malagasy rhythms with urban beats of all kinds.
