Jakob started playing drums at the age of 11. After a few years his intrest in jazz grew after going to a summerschool in Dworp (Brussels), and he started exploring music with his friends. At these summerschools he had lessons with Billy Hart and Dré Pallemaerts and others. In 2006 he started studying at the Lemmensinstitute with Dré Pallemaerts. He also had various workshops with people such as Adam Nussbaum, Mark Turner, Bill Carrothers, Dave Douglas, Eric Thielemans, Marek Patrman, Dave Liebman,… At the moment he is part of a few working bands, such as a trio with Viktor Perdieus(sax) and Lennart Heyndels (bass), a trio with a young pianoplayer Seppe Gebruers and Italian bassplayer Manolo Cabras, and a group let by young saxophone player Thomas Jillings called « An Expedition into the Mind of Sgt Fuzzy ». He had the opportunity to perform with some reknown musicians of the Belgian scene such as Ben Sluijs, Erwin Vann, Manolo Cabras, Nic Thys, Joachim Badenhorst, Jeroen Van Herzeele … and many others in various temporary projects.
