Joachim Caffonnette has always loved jazz standards, hitting the stages of jam sessions since his 16th birthday. His work as a composer convinced him to perform in quintet, but he never completely abandoned the classic jazz piano trio. Caffonnette plays alternately with the rhythm section of his quintet or with his « French » trio featuring double bass player Alex Gilson and drummer Jean-Baptiste Pinet. The repertoire gives room to standards, known and unknown, as well as some of Caffonnette’s own compositions. His knowledge of the repertoire gave Joachim the opportunity to open severals jam sessions, most notably at the Brussels Jazz Festival two years in a row and a complete season at the Music Village.
