Le Jazz après shopping with…Joel Rabesolo Trio

Percudrums: Miora Rabarisoa
Guitar: Joël Joel Rabesolo
Tenor sax: Selim Miles Boudrâa

Joël Rabesolo is recognized in Madagascar as the country’s leading jazz guitarist. In Europe his reputation is spreading fast as a member of the quartet “Island Jazz featuring Monika Njava & Linley Marthe” (formerly with Joe Zawinul). Joël has already established his fan base at l’Archiduc. At appearances here in 2013 and more recently with Island Jazz, he has always astonished listeners with a distinctive mixture of traditional Malagasy music, contemporary jazz and his unusual left-handed performance style. Unmistakable and seductive, Joël’s playing is highly imaginative, rhythmically complex and lushly melodic.

“Dextrous playing ranging from hard rock to startlingly unconventional.”

Kultur – Zeitschrift für Kultur und Gesellschaft

“A six-string virtuoso.”
