Piet Verbist Quartet: « Suite Réunion »

Bart Borremans: sax,
Bram Weijters: piano,
Piet Verbist: doublebass, compositions
Wim Eggermont: drums

Piet Verbist spent years with the acoustic bass through all kinds of styles and variations of music and lately a lot of compositions have emerged. Some of these compositions found their way in other line-ups (including ZYGOMATIK and MAMUTRIO), but the need for an acoustic formation led to the creation of this new quartet. The focus is on a varied jazz style with lots of fun and interaction between the musicians. The compositions range from atmosphere and context, ranging from oriental inspired work, to modern modal jazz to a more traditional view. But always with an original approach and plenty of room for dynamic improvisation. A first CD was recorded in February and will be released in November 2018 on the American jazz label Origin Records under the title « Suite Réunion ».
