Reggie Washington Quartet

Reggie Washington, bass
Fabrice Alleman, sax
Federico Gonzalez Pena, piano & keys
E.J. Strickland, drums

Reggie Washington
is the favorite bass player of many jazz stars, from the late Roy Hargrove to Steve Coleman to Archie Shepp, Grégory Privat, Regina Carter, The Headhunters, Jacques Schwarz-Bart and gospel singer Liz Mc Comb.
Reggie will play the double bass but also the electric bass, which allows him to multiply the sound colors and the styles of play. For a long time confined to the role of the (super)man of the shade, Reggie asserts itself now as an exceptional leader which magnificently enhances the work of the musicians with whom he has surrounded himself.
Reggie’s accomplices are Fabrice Alleman (saxophones), Federico Gonzalez Pena (piano & keyboards) and E.J. Strickland (drums). The quartet repertoire is a mix of standards and jazz classics enriched with original pieces arranged and adapted to the group’s personality. This mix of tradition and innovation is enhanced by subtle combinations of jazz, funk, blues and neo-soul.
Fabrice Alleman is an essential jazzman of the European scene. With a tenor swing and groove, an incomparable sound to the soprano, he shared the stage with Terence Blanchard, Kenny Werner, Toots Thielemans and Philippe Catherine among others.
Born in Uruguay, raised in Argentina but now based in Washington, Federico Gonzalez Peña is one of the architects of the neo-soul movement where his career has brought him alongside Marcus Miller, Meshell N’DegéOcello, Maxwell, Cassandra Wilson, Youssou N Dour, Stanley Clarke, Gregoire Maret and Gene Lake.
Finally, at the drums, EJ Strickland, leader of a quintet acclaimed around the world, feeds on very diverse influences with drummers like Elvin Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Roy Haynes, Jimmy Cobb, Tony Williams, Jeff « Tain Watts or Brian Blade. In 2018, he came to play Osons in the trio of Cuban pianist Manuel Valera.
