Tell me why I do like Mondays with… Compro Oro
Inspired by Cal Tjader, Mulatu Astatke and Marc Ribot, Wim Segers bring a tribute to the Afro-Cuban music. Compro Oro arises: light and dark melodies, moving rapidly at first, then slow again through the rhythmic landscape of the Latin-American culture, generously merged with impassioned improvisations.
This collective paints us a musical portrait from around the world with the richly colored sound of Wim’s vibraphone and the rebellious guitar of Bart Vervaeck. Drummer Frederik Van den Berghe and percussionist Robbe Kieckens, who grew up in Africa, deliver the ultimate groove. The solid rhythm section gets complete with Mattias Geernaert on double bas. Compro Oro is danceable music that stirs the senses and is constantly fascinating.
Live performances are a feast for hips, ears and mind.
Wim Segers: vibes, marimba
Bart Vervaeck: electric guitar
Mattias Geernaert: double bass
Robbe Kieckens: congas, percussion
Frederik Van den Berghe: drums
