Tó Trio

16h !!

Veronika Harcsa – voice
Tom Bourgeois – saxophone, bass clarinet
Florent Jeunieaux – guitar

The three musicians of Tó come from three different countries, combining French, Belgian and Hungarian cultural heritage with jazz and contemporary song culture. In their unusual combination of acoustic instruments, a sophisticated jazz composition might turn into collective free improvisation and then into a pop tune, a Hungarian folk song turns into a meditative ballade, while poems by French and British authors contribute to the atmosphere.
The members got to know each other at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where they all took classes in jazz and composition. Soon they realised that their collaboration went beyond their studies, and the trio Tó was born. The songs, written by the three young musicians are melodic and creative-improvisative at the same time.

The singer Veronika Harcsa is an internationally established artist, recording for labels in Tokyo, Berlin and Budapest. Two of her albums topped the vocal jazz charts of Tower Records in Japan, and her second album was awarded Jazz Album of the Year at the Hungarian Music Awards.
« Tó is a lovechild. – revealed the singer. – It didn’t come to life because we carefully set up the project, it was born because the three of us had so much fun making music together, that we simply had to go on. »

Tom Bourgeois studied in France and in Belgium. He has experience as a composer in various genres, writing music for films, theatre pieces and for the poetic jazz group Canopée. In Tó he successfully combines his great skills as a composer and as an instrumentalist.

Guitarist Florent Jeunieaux is a widely active and sought after musician in the Belgian jazz scene. He founded his first band at the age of 10. During his teenage years he went deep into rock and reggae, which influenced his carefully established sound and led to a critical stylistic mindset. His studies in jazz opened gates to improvisation and composition, which he now further expands in Tó.
